Getting Back To Normal On A Snowy Saturday

Happy snowy Saturday readers! Hope everyone had a terrific week! I am working on getting cleaned up from Christmas( yes, my decorations are still up. Bad me) and the snowstorm we had yesterday. In case you didn't know, I am not a big fan of snow. Not even a little bit. Probably because the snow makes a big old mess that I have to clean up after because no one besides me understands the concept of taking your shoes off before you walk on the carpet. Well, after it was all said and done it was kind of pretty. Still trying figure out the settings on my new camera, so bear with me as I share these two pictures. This is taken from my back door … [Read more...]

The Night Before Christmas Eve

It is really hard to believe it is the night before Christmas Eve. I am still trying to wrap my head around the loss of a dear family friend, so the thought of prepping for all the Christmas activities seems almost wrong. But, life tends to keep moving forward, even when you think it shouldn't. So I thought I'd share with you our night before Christmas Eve. By the time you read this post, I will already have been at work for an hour. While getting up early the night after an Eagles game is hard enough, having to get up to go to work after an Eagles game is worse!  But, the bright side is that I am home to spend the rest of the evening with … [Read more...]

Dear Crazy Christmas Shoppers

'Tis the season to be jolly fa-la-la blah blah blah. I would ordinarily love this time of year. Nah, not really. Retail and commercialism has ruined the magic of the Christmas season. Instead of being a season of goodwill and cheer, it has turned into give-me-more and be totally nasty. Boy, did I swallow grumpy pills today. Guess it is because of the general nastiness being spread around. Julie at From Inmates To Playdates has posts that she terms Letters To Crazy People. They are hilarious and entertaining. I am snatching her idea little bit, by posting my own letter to the Christmas shopper. Feel free to chime in at the comment section. … [Read more...]

Elf On The Shelf: What The Heck Is The Big Deal?

Okay, before anyone starts throwing candy canes and toilet paper at me, let me explain. I don't hate the Elf, but I am not particularly fond of him(or her) either. Perhaps because I work in a place where the Elf is "adopted" out, and he makes his appearance before Halloween. I think it is mostly because that smile totally creeps me out. I should really be worshiping that Elf because way before the Elf became popular or really known, my grandmother had an ornament that looked exactly like Chippy(or whatever said Elf's name is). It brings back nice memories of a good meal and time with the family. The problem, you ask?  I only remember it … [Read more...]

Christmas Style: Tag I Am It!

Christmas is always a fun time for me, well most of the time. When I worked as a nurse, it was hard being away from the family during a holiday. I always knew it was part of the job, and that it would happen, but it still didn't make it any easier. Considering how much I love being with my family, not being able to spend a holiday with them was pure torture. I was comforted in the fact that I was helping my patients and their families, so it wasn't always so difficult. So when Cia of Cia Pink Pumpkin tagged me in a Christmas post, I was excited to join in! I like question posts like these because they really make you stop and think and … [Read more...]
