Did you ever get really excited when you *think* you are making really great progress with your blog pageviews? You have 3 or 4 extremely great days, even having a day where you break all sorts of pageview records.
And then it bottoms out……again. And it makes you want to cry. And bang your head. And take a week off from blogging because you think what the heck is the point?!?
Yeah, I am at that point today. In the course of the past 4 days, I lost 5,000 pageviews. Totally disheartening because I thought I was blogging about some great topics about Fall and Halloween that people would find really useful. No such luck. I really want to scream LOUD. But the neighbors are probably still sleeping, so I doubt that is a good idea.
So I really need to buckle down and start doing some homework. Taking some time to do some keyword analysis. Try to figure out what it is people are looking for, and what they need *solved*. Then maybe I can start writing some posts that people will want to come read and share with other.
I think part of the trouble is there are some topics that I just don’t write about. Craft posts are one of them, because I just don’t have the talent to do them. I had to rely on a guest post in order to get this cute Halloween post for a pumpkin flowerpot.
And I really no use for writing fashion posts. I could never come up with cute ideas for posts. If you are looking for those types of post, then visiting Jo-Lynne Shane is your best bet. For instance, she wrote about denim jackets today. I could never come up with something like that. Of course, a lot of my wardrobe consists of jeans and Eagles shirts, so I am no use in the area of fashion.
As for health related posts, I admit I stay away from them. People don’t have common sense sometimes, and then get angry if the advice doesn’t work for them. And the one post I do have is being a healthcare advocate for your spouse. It is more a rant than something that is helpful to others. So yeah, I do need to work on that.
So what do I have to offer that is useful?
- Book recommendations. I did a guest post for great Christian books for couples and top teen fantasy and adventure books for this season. After all, I am a bookseller, and they are my passion and area of expertise.
- Crockpot recipes. The crockpot is my favorite kitchen appliance, and I have some pretty darn good recipes. My recipe for creamed chicken over biscuits has become tops in my pageviews, thanks to it being shared on Penny Lane Kitchen’s Fall crockpot recipe round-up. I mean, doesn’t this look delicious? Click on the picture to get the recipe!
So it comes back to this: what do you want to see? What do you need help with? What questions do you need answered? Help me out here.
