Welcome to the next stop of Jenn Aubert’s book tour! Making Our Life Matter is so happy to have you here, and equally happy to have Jenn add me to her book tour! I found Jenn through The Mother Of All Meltdowns book tour last year, and when they asked me if I would be willing to host another stop, I just couldn’t say no!
So grab a cup, and stay a bit. I can’t wait to share my impressions of Women Entrepreneur Revolution: Ready! Set! Launch!
When I first received my copy of the book, I wasn’t too sure it was going to be something I would enjoy reading. (Hey, Jenn, the personal hand-written note was such a nice thing to do). After all, I am no leader, no trailblazer, no role model. So I started reading through the first chapter. And the next one. Around 6 pages into the second chapter, I came across this little gem:
Women can be particularly vicious and ridiculously petty when it comes to other women, especially those we perceive as a threats(women we classify as competitors.)
Um, yeah. So true. I admit that there are women I work with that I tend to be very guarded with because I think they are going after what I finally got as mine. But what struck me most was the subheading to the section reads: Not Competitors, but Collaborators, Colleagues, and Charming Examples. That made me stop and think. While, I have never even thought of myself as a woman in business, this section struck me. Why? Because it is great advice whether you want to start your own path or make your current path even better. Pretty neat, huh? Definitely great advice for me as I strike out to turn my blog into more than just an extension of me. And how I can use my current career as a learning experience!
I continued to read on through several of the chapters. Found myself going back a few times to re-read certain parts, as well. I love the list Jenn has of places to find potential role models. And she tells you that YOU have to find them yourself. There’s that whole entrepreneur concept jumping out at you!
I do have to say that the chapter that stuck out the most for me is the chapter titled: Get Going(Behavior). Again, Jenn, you are making me think, and plan, and think so more. So you definitely are doing your job with the book. I did learn that I am not succeeding as much as I want to on my blog because of fear. The question is, what am I afraid of? Not sure, but I will definitely check into that.
I have to say it again, I really enjoyed this book. More than I expected. I really loved her “Inspirational Libraries” she included, and was pleased to see that we have a lot in common as to what motivates us.(Silver Linings Playbook and Jennifer Lawrence are tops on that list, that is for sure!) Both Jenns have it all figured out, and I am hoping that someday I will get there.
So that is just a short review of what great things Women Entrepreneur Revolution: Ready! Set! Launch! has to offer you. Head out and grab a copy and start reading. You can find it at Amazon.com and it will be one of your best blog investments! I am definitely going to be reading it over and over again!
