This is taken from my back door looking out at our shed. Note the tree on the right side of the beige shed. I zoomed in on it in the next picture.

Getting there with my photography. I can’t wait till Spring gets here to go out and practice practice practice.

SO, WHAT DOES “GETTING BACK TO NORMAL” INVOLVE ON A SNOWY SATURDAY?

So today’s plan includes taking my house back from Christmas, and putting everything back to normal. I want to finish that so I can get started on my personal goals! Not that it is an excuse or anything, but it is really hard to stay straightened up when you don’t have things in their usual spots. Having a place for everything makes it easier to stay neat and presentable. My plan for the next 2 weeks is to find homes for ALL of our electronic cords(Nooks, DS’s, cameras, etc.).  This basket from Target would make great storage for the Nooks and cords. The size would allow it to fit neatly on the shelf under my end table. I wish Target would send me a gift card to help organize my living room and kitchen spaces, like they did with Jo-Lynne’s Christmas decorating! I definitely have blog envy(or is it decorating envy?!)  She also has a laundry room makeover that is drool worthy!

Since it is a snowy Saturday, and I have nowhere to go, I can take my time and do these items the right way. Christmas is wonderful, but I am so ready for it to be over. So, these are my main goals for today.

  1. Discard of any unwanted or unused decorations. There is no point of them taking up space that I can use to store the things I love.
  2. When I pack the items away, I want to write down the contents of each container by where they are(living room, entry way table, etc.) so that I can easily find them. I plan on taping an index card to the side of each container for easy reference. I also want to take pictures of my favorite displays so I can replicate them next year without frustration.
  3. Test and discard broken tree lights. I also want to save some of the bulbs to use in compatible light sets. There is always one bulb that doesn’t work. Since I use the same light strands inside and out, saving some of them makes sense.
  4. Move the furniture away from the walls and wipe them down. My boys are, ahem, messy. They seem to like throwing things behind the sofa, and then act all surprised when I find them. Since we have to rearrange the furniture to get it back to normal, this is a no-brainer.

NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IS ON MY AGENDA FOR TODAY, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR BEST TIPS ON POST-HOLIDAY ORGANIZATION! WHAT WORKS? WHAT DOESN’T? I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT EVERYONE DOES TO GET ORGANIZED IN THE NEW YEAR!
