Family road trips are one of my favorite activities during the Summer. However, when you are traveling, there is one major problem that you may face: no bathroom in sight. Or when you finally do get to that bathroom, you just want to take off running. Anyone been in that situation? Sometimes when you are traveling, you can get an unpredictable(and definitely unwanted)extra passenger. So for times like that, you need a personal care travel bag that you can grab in a hurry. One thing that should be in there is Carefree® Acti-fresh® Thin liners.
We are headed out for a major road trip soon. And, of course, an unwanted & unpredictable passenger is supposed to show up. She’s messy, she’s drippy, and she makes a mess! Since I will be in the car for an extended time, I need to be ready for anything. We recently got a new car, and I certainly don’t want to mess up this beauty.
An unwelcome(did I mention unpredictable?) passenger has the potential to do a lot of damage to our almost brand new seats. So I am determined I am going to be ready for anything! Keep reading how you can make this {almost} no-sew personal care travel bag.
Sometimes it is hard when you like to travel and you have an unwanted passenger that isn’t reliable likes to tag along. Sometimes this nuisance passenger is quiet and minds her own business. Other times she screams at the top of her lungs: Are We There Yet? Since we are going to a place in the country we have never driven to, the nearest bathroom won’t always be known.
When I was shopping at Target(and learning how to use my new Cartwheel app), I found the Carefree® Acti-fresh® Thin liners and the Carefree® Original Regular .
Target is having wonderful savings through the Cartwheel app. The offer runs from now until August 7th, so be sure to swing by Target and scoop up the savings. Speaking of scooping up, here is how you can scoop up a personal care travel bag so that you can keep that unwanted passenger from ruining your car ride.
{ALMOST}NO-SEW PERSONAL CARE TRAVEL BAG:
What you will need:
- Carefree® Acti-fresh® Thin liners. I prefer the Acti-fresh because driving for long distances can make you, uh, sweaty. And sweaty usually equals stinky. Who wants that in a closed car? The liners are also available in Carefree® Original Regular , so I purchased them, as well. I have those for overnight stops.
- Size 5T girl’s tank top in your favorite color
- 1 large button in your color of choice
- Matching thread and needle
- Pants elastic
- Large fabric scissors
- Ruler and sharpie marker
- Optional items(to put in finished bag): hand sanitizer, scented powder, personal care wipes, small Ziploc bag with a spare set of panties(for those times that unpredictable passenger wins the battle)
To make the almost no-sew personal care travel bag, you simply:
- Cut off the tags on the tank top
- Lay the tank top flat, then measure 1 inch down from bottom of scoop neck
- Sew the button into place, making sure there is enough room to double loop the elastic that will hold the bag closed. After all, one embarrassing moment is enough.
- Measure enough elastic that will allow you to loop around the button twice. Sew at the top of the neckline on the back of the tank top, cutting off the excess ends.
- Turn shirt inside out. Measure up 5 inches from the bottom hem, and then cut into pairs of strips up to the mark. Be sure to cut the strips on the end in half(vertically).
- Starting from the outside, tie each set of strips into a double knot.
- When that is completed, take the right tail from the end, and tie it with the left tail of the adjacent knot, being sure to double knot again. Continue from left to right until all tails are double knotted.
- Turn it right side out, and you are ready to fill up your personal care travel bag.
When you are ready to travel, you can simply stick the personal care travel bag right in the pocket on your door. So when you need to make a dash to lose your unwanted extra passenger, you can just grab and go!
Now you will be ready for anything when you travel! And thanks to Target and the Cartwheel App, you can spend a little less to be prepared for your car trip!
