In an earlier post, I talked about our visit to the University of Maryland College Park, and now I want to discuss the next stop on our trip: Duke University. I was looking forward to this visit for a LONG time. My husband, myself, and our youngest son are big Duke basketball fans. So having the opportunity to finally visit Duke University in person.
I am still in disbelief that my son is deep in the process of finding and applying to colleges. So last August, my husband and I started planning an East Coast road trip to visit some colleges in person. My son wants to study Chemistry as his major, and many of the colleges we visited are well-known for their programs.
Before we headed to Duke University, we checked into our hotel. Wanted to find a hotel that was convenient to both colleges that we were visiting in North Carolina. The Fairfield Inn & Suites at Durham Southpoint fit that need in the best possible way.
A side note: my son is a big fan of that “other” North Carolina college that is in the area. So that goofy face is the result of him not wanting to be there. But, I am happy to admit, by the time the tour was over, he wasn’t so grumpy about being there.
So how was our visit to Duke University? Keep reading to find out why it should make your list of colleges to visit.
I love how easy it was to get to the University, especially with the help of our new GPS. One of the most notable things about our visit was the beautiful scenery we drove through before we even reached the admissions building.
Before we even heard one word about what Duke University has to offer, I was completely and utterly hooked. The grounds were absolutely breathtaking, and you could just feel the soul of the college. The presentation was very informative. So much that I wanted to jump in and enroll.
Now I am sharing some pictures from our tour. You can see why so many people want to attend this university.
Seeing the chapel in person was, well, amazing. See something in person versus on television is something you aren’t going to forget anytime soon.
And, of course, this Mom had to stop at the college bookstore so I could get a t-shirt.
So there is just a little about our visit to Duke University. Stay tuned for an upcoming glance at another amazing college in the Triangle.
