Easy Recipe for Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2¾ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 ts of cream of tartar
  • 1 ts baking soda
  • ¼ ts salt
  • Topping
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Mix 1½ cups sugar, butter, shortening, and eggs in a large bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Refrigerate the dough for 10 minutes.
  3. Mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  4. Remove the dough and form into small balls. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mix.
  5. Refrigerate cookie dough balls for 1 - 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  7. Remove refrigerated dough and bake on cookie sheet for 8 - 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack.
Notes
This recipe will make 22 large 4" cookies or 36 small 2" cookies. I used a large rounded Tablespoon to scoop.
