“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” – Lin Yutang
Such a powerful quote for a travel page. And extremely accurate. Everyone is familiar with the saying that “there is no place like home.” That is so true for our family. Our home is our base, our anchor in the bad weather, the center of who we are.
But August 2016 provided us with a new adventure as well. I never thought I would be able to handle an extended car trip, but it was an amazing time!
In any case, this is what you will find on my travel page:
My family and I live in East Central PA. It is a beautiful area, and has a great advantage: 2 hours from New York City, 3 hours from our favorite beach, and just a short drive to Philadelphia, PA. You can’t beat the convenience of such a location.
One of my favorite trips to New York City was an event for Project Envolve. I have been to the city before, but this was my first solo trip. To my surprise and delight, I didn’t get lost and had a great time learning about the future of energy efficiency. And the view wasn’t too shabby either.
Mostly we have been in the city for school fundraisers. You have to adore the city at Christmas!
And you can’t forget New Jersey. It is home to our absolute favorite beach: Wildwood NJ. This is our home beach, our place of relaxation, and where our memories are made. Not only do they have a great beach & boardwalk, but also a pretty nice water park and mini golf course.
As I mentioned earlier, we had the opportunity for an East Coast road trip. We were in the process of looking for colleges for our oldest son. We made stops at the University of Maryland, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina.
My youngest LOVES beaches, so we managed to squeeze in a trip to Tybee Island Georgia, including an overnight stay in Savannah.
It was the trip of a lifetime! We also stopped at Washington, DC on our way home. I wish we could have stayed longer, we didn’t get to see everything we wanted.
After 12 days away, it was definitely good to be home!
My husband is a seasoned international travel because of his work. He has been to Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, China, and more. As for me, I have been out of the country exactly twice, and both have been to Jamaica.
So that is just a small sampling of what your will find in my travel archives. I hope you enjoy them, and happy planning!
