There are 3 words that can strike fear into the heart of any child. Do you have any idea what they might be? No?
Well, here they are: BACK TO SCHOOL!
See, my boys just saw me type that and they went screaming from the room! And yes, I did enjoy it just the tiniest bit. But truthfully, I am not really looking forward to the school year starting because it means that I will have TWO in high school!
I look at these two young men of mine and think: didn’t they just start kindergarten? Wasn’t that just yesterday that we took oldest to the school to do placement testing? And now he’s starting his junior year? No, it is not possible! But when I look at him during our college visits, I know it’s true.
So in honor of all those sweet memories, I thought I would get back into some book recommendations for the back to school rush. For today’s post, I am going to concentrate on that exciting milestone: starting kindergarten!
As many of you know, I work as a bookseller in the Children’s Department of our local bookstore. So I have had the pleasure and fun of reading and researching the newer books. And, of course, sharing some of the classic books that are available. So here is a list of a few of my absolute favorite titles.

I love that these stories are meant to be read to the kids by the parents. Why? Because the stories are just as comforting to Mom & Dad as they are the kids. Going to kindergarten can be a really scary thing, and these kindergarten picture books can make the process a little bit easier on everyone.
