One of my favorite adult beverages has always been sangria. But having one every time you go out to eat can get very expensive. We recently had friends over to the house for a get together, and I finally took the plunge and tried my own. It turned out much better than I expected, and it was enjoyed by all. I found the recipe on the internet, and I adapted it our tastes.
- Large glass pitcher with a handle
- 1 Bottle of red Lambrusco
- 1 lime cut into wedges
- 1 Orange cut into wedges
- 1 can pineapple chunks, drained
- 1 jar maraschino cherries, drained
- 2 Tbsp sugar(I ended up adding slightly more)
- 2.5 Shots blackberry brandy
- 1 shot vodka
- 1.5 cups orange juice
To make the sangria:
Pour wine in the pitcher and add orange juice. Slice lime and oranges into large slices, and add to pitcher. (leaving out seeds if possible). Add pineapple and cherries. Add sugar, vodka, and brandy. Stir gently. Chill overnight. Serve in your favorite glasses over ice. It’s simple, and goes well with any type of food.
