Are you always looking for ways to save money while you and your family are at a youth baseball game? Do you feel like you are single handedly supporting your park’s snack bar each week? Then this post is definitely for you! I can help you with ideas to bring great snacks with little time and effort.
I recently wrote a post about what Mom needs for a new baseball season. One of the major things I talk about is having some snacks with you in case the field you are playing at does not have a snack bar. For this post, I thought I’d get into a more specific list of things you could take with you.
Snack Ideas For Baseball Moms
Okay, before I get started, let me mention this. A lot of baseball programs rely heavily on their income from snack stand sales. I know ours does. And it is great to support them. But at the same time, you may only have so much money to spend on food each week.
After dropping a lot of money into the playing of the baseball(player fees, uniforms, equipment, park dues. Yeah, it adds up.), we baseball Moms need to look into saving as much as we can. So make sure you buy a couple of things from the snack stand, so at least they get some of the support they need.
Okay, back on task.
Here are a few simple snack ideas for baseball Moms that won’t break the bank:
- Pretzel sticks. Take a handful or two into a zipper Ziplock bag(yes, the zipper kind, not the put them together and hope it stays together kind). Keep them in a cabinet, and you can grab them for each game. If you have kids that are at the age where they are concerned about who gets more, then count them out. Each and every one. In their presence. It will save you a headache later.
- Granola bars. If you can, make your own. Wrap them well, and you will have them ready when you need them. Or, if you are baking-impaired like me, buy them and toss them in your bag. I particularly the Nature Valley Crunchy Apple Crisp.
- Fruit Snacks. Yeah, may not be the healthiest choice out there, but…. they tend to keep the kids quiet during a “I want candy” tantrum. Other parents will love YOU for doing that.
- Dried fruits and nuts. Again, easy to bring and tasty too!
- Go-GURT. This product has a dual purpose. Toss them in the freezer the night before a game. When you are ready to go, toss them in your cooler bag. They will serve first as an ice pack, and later as dessert. Easy! Plus, there are tons of flavors, everyone can find a flavor all their own!
- Don’t forget beverages! Water and Gatorade for your athlete, and a nice brewed iced tea for you. Or if you prefer, water as well. Again, throw a couple of the waters in the freezer, and use them as ice packs(They will work on injuries too!). Concerned about sports drinks? So there you have a few simple snack ideas for baseball Moms. Come to think of it, this will work for any type of sports. With just a little planning you can be prepared and save you wallet from a workout. Leave those to the kids!
