I can’t believe how fast Summer is coming to an end. It seems like it just started, and now my boys will be heading back to school on Monday. Unreal!
So how do you combat the back-to-school denial? Take a road trip, of course! Many of my readers know how much I absolutely LOVE Wildwood NJ! So when the opportunity came up to take a road trip there, we jumped at the chance.
It is hard to describe sometimes how much we love spending time together as a family at Wildwood. There is something about walking on the boardwalk and hearing the seagulls, well, I can’t even describe it.
But if you have been there, you know exactly what I am talking about. One of the biggest things about the boardwalk is the smell of food! There is nothing like it. But, that wonderful smelling food adds up really quickly to your pocket book. And since we were just going on a day trip, having a big food budget was not in the plan.
So how did we get around that? We packed a cooler bag filled with some great snacks from our favorite “Snackation” destination: Walmart!
My youngest son is extremely fussy when it comes to snacks, so getting him meals out sometimes just isn’t cost effective. But let me tell you, he absolutely loves these snacks from Smucker’s®, so taking them along was the perfect solution for our day trip.
So how did our day go? Amazing! Here are a few highlights:
- We actually got out of the house on time, for a change.
- My husband made sure that we were down in Wildwood early so that we could spend the most time as possible in our happy place.
- We were able to save on food by packing a cooler bag of snacks, so we were able to play longer at our favorite arcade!
- We made some great memories together as a family before the craziness of school gets back underway. That was priceless!
Finding great ways to spend time as a family and to save money is my destination for a “Snackation” will be Walmart!
