Hey all! I am headed off to vacation, ready to enjoy time with my family. I love when I can have guest posters to fill in for me so I can have some time off. I am very excited to bring you tea-inspired summer cocktails from Jennifer. What a perfect way to kick off a fun-filled summer.
Thanks for having me! I’m Jennifer, you can usually find me over at Study at Home Mama where I write about early learning and development, food, psychology, and everything in between. I am so excited to be here and share with you some herbal tea cocktails to lighten up your summer! Herbal tea is a great alternative for adding some flavor to your mixed drinks, without adding any calories, sugar, fat, etc. I also like to think we’re getting the health benefits of herbal tea while we’re sitting on our patios sipping on our cocktails, and you can easily provide straight iced herbal tea for the kids or anyone who doesn’t feel like indulging. Here are three unique and summer-inspired options to choose from — cheers!
Just Peachy Gin and Tonic
- 4 oz strong Just Peachy tea
- 4 oz Tonic or Club soda
- 1 oz Gin
Make a pitcher of really strong David’s Just Peachy Tea (you can substitute Tetley Peach Tea, but it’s not quite as delicious), using 1 Tbsp of loose tea (or 1 teabag) for every cup of water. Brew the tea hot for the best flavor and then either chill it or allow it to get to room temperature and add ice.
Strain and pour the tea into your tumbler of choice, add the gin, and then right before indulging, add the tonic, and enjoy!
Watermelon Mint Granita
- 8 oz Watermelon Mint tea
- 1 oz vodka
Make a pitcher of David’s Watermelon Mint tea to whichever strength you prefer — I would err on the strong side, personally. After steeped, strain and pour the tea into an ice-cube tray and freeze.
When you’re ready to enjoy, pulse the ice cubes in a blender until they resemble slushy granules, spoon into your container of choice, and then add the vodka. You can also add some more chilled tea to the ice for a different consistency.
Shooting Starfruit Cocktail
*makes 4 servings*
- 12 oz Shooting Starfruit tea
- 6-7 oz champagne (the “personal sized” bottles work perfectly)
Add 12 oz of boiling water to 2 Tbsp of David’s Shooting Starfruit tea and chill (this is not a cocktail that you should ice, so room temperature won’t cut it).
When ready to enjoy, fill half to three-quarters of a champagne flute with the chilled tea and top with champagne. I preferred the 3-to-1 ratio, myself.
I hope you enjoy these tea cocktails as much as I enjoyed creating them!
Thanks again Jennifer for your great post, and delicious looking tea-inspired summer cocktails! Make sure you hop on over and visit Jennifer’s site to see what else she has going on!
